My research interest lies in the field of neuroscience and cell signaling. Currently I am studying the functional significance of amino acid transporters SNAT1 in neuronal cells. Amino acid transporters are specific proteins that recognize, bind and transport amino acid in and out of membrane. They play fundamental role in various functions of the human body e.g. protein synthesis, hormone metabolism, neurotransmission etc. SNAT1 is a type of amino acid transporter that is involved in uptake of glutamine by neurons. Studying the role of SNAT1 in neuronal functioning would help gain insight into various neuronal diseases.
