Research Interests:

My research interest lies in understanding the different cell signaling mechanisms.

Currently, I am involved in the Bone project where we are trying to characterise the interaction between alpha 5 integrin and Cx43 hemichannels in osteocytes (mechanical sensors in the bone)under normal and mechanically stimulated condition.Integrins are known to play an important role in bone resorption and response of cells to mechanical stress. Hemichannels like Cx43 too are critical as they efficiently transmit signals generated under mechanical stress in osteocytes. Studying the association between the two will be relevant in investigating their role in

osteocyte survival, proliferation and death.
