We have recently lost a distinguished faculty member, Dr. Paul M. Horowitz, who passed away after a long illness. He will be remembered not only as an excellent scientist and researcher, but as a caring teacher and mentor to students and a great friend and collegue to us all. In Paul's memory, the department of Biochemistry is establishing an annual lectureship, named the Horowitz Lectureship, with speakers to be chosen and hosted by graduate students. The department is also establishing a fund to support an award recognizing one granduate student each year who epitomizes Paul's dedication to research excellence, commitment to teaching, and service to the department and his/her fellow students. details.

The Department of Biochemistry participates in the Neuroscience Interdisciplinary Graduate Training Program.
